Undisturbed Ideas

Noah's Ark

Watching the National Geographic special on Noah's Ark tonight inspired some thoughts and questions concerning the six day creation. One question that would lead to other questions is: In a perfect world what would you have? What characteristics would you see or not see? Whether they were geological, physical, spiritual, etc.

Lets begin a list of possibilities.

  1. No death. animal nor human death.

  2. No pain or suffering.

  3. No laborious work.

  4. No rain, snow, cold weather, nor harsh weather of any kind.

  5. No earthquakes, thus, tectonic plate movements.

  6. No Volcanoes.

It has been suggested that animals had died but man did not before the fall of man. If there is no death then it would be assumed that death wouldn't affect animals either since through sin death entered into the world (Romans 5:12).

It had not rained (Genesis 2:5), But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground (Genesis 2:6). So, if it hadn't rained, would there be layers of sedimentary rock and dirt? Also, because of sin the earth was cursed.

Genesis 3:17-19 Cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread.

So, if thorns and thistles were created as a part of a curse on the earth, what other possible things came from that? Would there have been volcano and earthquake activity that would cause major geological changes or possibly death? When exactly would volcano and tectonic activity begin? If you are a Young Earth Creationist as myself you'd have to believe that this activity would have started within the last 6,000 to 10,000 years, but was it in Adam's time or in Noah's time? Not that in Adam's time or Noah's times makes that much difference, but rather, if there was a time that there wasn't major geological change (ie. rain, snow, ice, volcano, earthquake) prior to Noah's flood. Could someone dig so far into the ground that they could find a portion of undisturbed soil? Undisturbed meaning not in sedimentary layers laid down by flooding and volcano activity. And would it be evidence of creation having undisturbed soil? If there were "millions and billions" of years of evolution, and there would be constant geological change during this time, then its likely that all soil as we know it would be in sedimentary layers and none would be as it originated even in evolutionary terms. However, from a creationist stand point, the earth is cursed during Adam's time and completely covered in flood water in Noah's time.

If indeed God created the heavens and the earth and created them in a perfect stage as we YEC believe He did. Could one find evidence of it? Can we find evidence of pre-flood, pre-volcano or pre-tectonic activity? If we can, then what would that evidence be? What could we look for? would we just look for pure undisturbed earth?

What other things can be added to our List of possibilities? What other thoughts could be added to our Undisturbed Soil idea?

Is the speed of light really decreasing?

Day 4

I don't think that is completely accurate. It is said that gravity can have an effect on the speed of light and time. The speed of light, as Einstein once put it, is relative as well as time. If you were traveling on a beam of light at the speed of light, other beams of light would appear to stand still, or travel slow. Also, a clock that is at the top of a tall building would appear to run faster than clocks near ground level. There is one very important thing to remember is that God created light before He created the sun, moon and stars. He also created evening and morning before creating the sun, moon and stars (Genesis 1:3-5). Some Young Earth Creationist like to argue that light was created in transit. I don't think that is true but it is interesting to consider that light was created before these celestial bodies were. What do you think???

Young Earth Creationist not taken seriously

AIG

I just read this article over at answersincreation.org concerning AIG's article about Steve Irwins untimely death. Answers in Creation is an organization dedicated to daily rebuttals of AIG's stance on Young Earth Creationism. Ken Ham (of AIG) in his article, tells us about how many AIG supporters have tried to witness to Steve Irwin by sending him some of their creation books. Greg Neyman made the incorrect statement "they had no chance of reaching Irwin with the Gospel", and "In the scientific community, young earth creationists are not taken seriously".

Dear Mr. Neyman 1st Corinthians 1:17,18 tells us that the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness. The very preaching of the cross is foolishness to the lost, but we have a great commission to do it anyway. Even if Mr. Irwin never receives Christ as his savior, he at least had the chance to receive Him. The Gospel was at least presented to him. I am certainly grateful that someone took the chance to witness to me.

Day 4 of a Genesis Creation

Day 4

On day four of the creation record in Genesis, God creates the sun, moon and stars. Some day-age Creationist believe that this is proof of an ancient, or old earth, since there is no way that we could have had a 24 hour day without these celestial bodies. Why not? Is God subject to the actions of the sun, moon and stars? or are they (sun, moon and stars) subject to God's will? Think of a ruler, a foot measurement (12 inches). Is a foot 12 inches because the ruler dictates that it is? or did man come along and say "This length of space is a foot and I'll make this ruler as a tool so that everyone is on the same page"? It's a tool. And in this way so is the sun moon and stars. As the NIV puts it "...and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years". The sun, moon and stars mark days as the ruler would mark 12 inches.

In Genesis 1:3 God created Light and then in verse 5 He called the light Day and the darkness Night, and the evening and morning were the first day. So metaphorically, God created the 12 inches and on the fourth day created the ruler. Even without the sun, moon and stars we still had day and night and evening and morning. Nothing at all here indicates an age of time with the absense of sun, moon and stars, more likely a 24 hour day is indicated.

Supposing that gain is godliness

5: Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6: But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7: For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8: And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9: But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

2Peter Chapter 2

Hi Everyone, I read this tonight and thought I'd share it. Peter wrote this along time ago but wow!! Just about every bit of it pertains to what is going on today. Give it a read and see if you catch on to it.

1: But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2: And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3: And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
4: For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5: And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6: And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
7: And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
8: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
9: The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
10: But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
11: Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
12: But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

13: And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
14: Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
15: Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
16: But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
17: These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
18: For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
19: While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
20: For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
21: For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22: But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

I NEED TO BE ON SOME SORT OF A DRUG

Recently I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -- Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how this insidious disease manifests itself:

I decided to wash my car. As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the hall table. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the trashcan under the table, and notice that the trashcan is full. So I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the trash first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take m y checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go to my desk where I find the can of pop that I had been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the pop aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.?

I see that the pop is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the pop, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye -- they need to be watered. I set the pop down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, we will be looking for the remote, but nobody will remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I splash some water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day: the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of pop sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e- mail.
